About Gavin Haag

The marketing professional behind the camera

I'm Gavin - a corporate marketing professional and commercial photographer who brings a unique dual perspective to every shoot. While most photographers focus on creating visually appealing images, I understand how your photography needs to function within your broader business strategy.

As someone who works in corporate marketing daily, I know the difference between a photo that looks good and one that drives business results. This understanding of both sides of the equation - marketing strategy and visual execution - is what sets my work apart and delivers measurable value for my clients.

Current clients include:

  • Kevala (Healthcare Tech) - Executive portraits for Series A fundraising

  • Marcus & Millichap (Commercial Real Estate) - Property and team photography

  • Ragan Communications (PR Agency) - Corporate events and team imagery

  • Bergman KPRS (Construction) - commercial real estate

  • Trend Micro (Corporate Events) - Conference and workplace photography

Why this background matters for your business

My corporate marketing experience means I approach every shoot with strategic thinking:

  • Platform: I know how images will be used across LinkedIn, websites, annual reports, and media kits

  • Brand: I understand how photography fits into larger brand narratives and marketing campaigns

  • ROI: I create visual assets that work across your entire marketing ecosystem, not just individual photos

  • Efficiency: I design shoots around business schedules and objectives, not artistic whims

I help businesses create imagery for executive portraits that command attention in investor meetings, team photography that showcases company culture for recruitment, or event coverage that generates social media content.

The creative journey that shaped my vision

My path to photography has been anything but conventional. Born in New York City and raised in San Francisco, I've lived creativity my entire life - from studying theater at UCLA to touring as a musician throughout the country. I even spent time in front of the camera, acting in projects like The Trial of the Chicago 7 and White House Plumbers, learning visual storytelling from masterful directors and cinematographers.

When the pandemic brought the entertainment industry to a standstill in March 2020, I experienced a transformative moment walking the streets of New York with my 35mm camera. I began documenting the rapidly changing landscape of Brooklyn and Manhattan, creating the "NO YORK: 2020" series that captured the details of life during unprecedented times - masks, social distancing, and a city transformed.

This led to "NO ANGELS: Alleyways of Los Angeles" when my family moved west in 2021. Inspired by cinematographers like Robby Müller and Stanley Kubrick, I used long exposures and low-light techniques to explore the contrast between LA's glamorous facade and gritty reality. These fine art projects began attracting commercial opportunities, and I realized how my artistic vision could serve business objectives.

The collaborative approach

My approach to business photography is informed by years of working in collaborative environments - from bands to film sets to corporate teams. I bring positive energy and professional camaraderie to every shoot, creating an atmosphere where we can leverage our collective expertise while enjoying the creative process.

Just as successful bands are built on strong relationships rather than individual virtuosity, successful photography projects require collaboration, clear communication, and shared vision. I work hard to make every shoot efficient, productive, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone involved.

Seattle-based, national perspective

Seattle is home today, but my experiences in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles continuously shape my photographic approach. Whether crafting corporate visuals, documenting business events, or creating executive portraits, I bring a national perspective to local businesses while understanding the unique character of the Pacific Northwest market.

This geographic diversity, combined with my marketing background and creative foundation, allows me to create imagery that resonates locally while meeting the sophisticated standards of national and international business.
